Canva, the all-in-one visual communication platform, today announced a major partnership with the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC), Thailand’s Ministry of Education. The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for three years, aims to transform classrooms nationwide by granting free access to Canva Education and its premium AI-powered features to over 6 million Thai teachers and students.
This initiative aligns with OBEC’s vision to create an inclusive, engaging, and future-ready education system, accelerating Thailand’s digital learning goals.
Empowering Educators with AI and Reducing Workload
Canva and OBEC will focus on empowering educators by integrating AI-powered digital tools into the learning process. These tools will enable teachers to:
- Design Vibrant Lessons: Create highly engaging and meaningful learning experiences that spark student curiosity.
- Boost Efficiency: Significantly reduce the administrative workload associated with creating teaching materials.
- Inspire Creativity: Foster more creative and effective teaching methodologies.
Dr.Phuriwat Khamaikawin, Director of the Bureau of Academic Affairs and Educational Standards, OBEC, stated, “This collaboration with Canva is an exciting milestone. It opens up free access to world-class creative tools for more than six million teachers, students, and OBEC staff. With Canva Education, teachers can create lessons that are more engaging and intuitive, while students gain hands-on learning experiences that build essential digital, creative, and presentation skills—the capabilities young people need to thrive in today’s world.”
Fostering Future-Ready Digital Skills
The partnership is set to equip students with crucial 21st-century competencies, emphasizing visual communication and design skills.
Pakapol Thangtongchin, Country Manager, Canva Thailand, emphasized the platform’s mission: “Visual communication is no longer a nice-to-have; it’s a critical skill for Thailand’s next generation of innovators, creators, and leaders. We are empowering over 6 million teachers and students with creative tools that make learning more engaging, collaborative, and impactful.”
Free access to Canva Education, which includes thousands of education-specific templates and real-time collaboration features, will be fully rolled out across all 245 educational districts starting in January 2026.
Nationwide Training and Rollout Strategy
Canva and OBEC are already implementing a robust training schedule to ensure a successful rollout:
- November 2025: Intensive training for official IT personnel nationwide and over 400 OBEC central office staff.
- December 2025: Nationwide teacher training sessions focused on integrating Canva effectively into classroom lessons to make them more interactive and hands-on.
